Naturecoast researchers at TU Delft

On 20th May 2015, CSTM-PhD candidate Ewert Aukes presented his research and findings at the biannual conference of the STW NatureCoast project. At this conference, PhD candidates feed back their research experiences to end users in the respective field of science. Hence, representatives were present from the Dutch public works agency, the Province of South-Holland and consultancies.

Ewert discussed the results of the first case in his dissertation work: the improvement project for the Hondsbossche and Pettemer Zeewering. Moreover, he presented an outlook on his main case: the Sand Motor. Both projects are coastal protection projects making use of a very innovative protection solution. The main thrust of the research is understanding how project negotiations have led to such previously unusual solutions. A meaning-oriented perspective is taken to describe the framings of project participants and the interactions between these framings that have ultimately resulted in choosing an innovative coastal protection solution.

Besides Ewert Aukes the CSTM delegation was completed by Prof. Dr. Hans Bressers, Dr. Kris Lulofs and Dr. Vera Vikolainen, who also takes up a postdoctoral position in the project.
