In the Netherlands, approximately 2 million people live with various forms of rheumatic conditions such as inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, muscular rheumatism, ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia, as well as rare forms like lupus, scleroderma, or Sjögren's syndrome. While there is a significant amount of research conducted on pharmacological treatments for individuals with rheumatic conditions, less is known about the self-management strategies they employ to cope with their symptoms. To shed light on this understudied aspect, three researchers have initiated a scientific study called "REIS" (Reuma En Ik: Self Management), which translates to "Journey" or "Trip": Rheumatism and Me: Self-Management. More information is on the Dutch website.
