Joint Summer School, Lancaster University campus, 1-3 september 2010
Within the context of a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Investigative Expertise Unit from the University of Lancaster and the IBR centre iCRiSP, a group of 9 UT employees visited the Lancaster campus for the first joint summer school, 1-3 September 2010.
During the first part both PhD-students and staff members presented ongoing and upcoming research. Topics included deception detection, strategic interviewing, crowd control, personality judgments, detection of insider threat and the effect of the environment on behavior.
Besides the interesting and inspiring presentations and discussions, there was also room for a demonstration of some innovative techniques, like motion sensors and new proximity coefficient software. The last day the staff and PhD students each held separate sessions. The staff discussed possibilities to team up and jointly apply for research funds, while the PhD students learned more about each other's projects, and discussed possibilities for collaboration on future projects.

The visit resulted in a first initiative for a joint EU project proposal. The PhD students created a network for them to keep each other updated on research and new methodological developments. The next summer school will be in Twente, 24-26 August, 2011.
