Human rights and issues related to terrorist hostage-taking

A study on the experiences of former hostages conducted by Giebels, Noelanders, and Vervaeke (2005) served as input for the United Nations, General Assemby, Report on human rights and issues related to terrorist hostage-taking (July, 4, 2013). Based on semi-structured interviews with ex-hostages, the  conclusions of the article include  guidelines for estimating and promoting the psychological well-being of hostages during their captivity.
