Eline Bos: From Student Services to Music Jams and Tattoo Designs - A Peek into Her Colourful Life! Hey there, Eline! Thanks for taking the time to chat with me today. Can you give us a little glimpse into your life and what you do at UT?

Hi! No problem at all. So, I am Eline Bos and I live in Enschede. Just recently, my husband and I became parents to the cutest little boy named Manuel see picture below. At UT, I started off as a housing officer, about 2.5 years ago, and did this with a lot of enjoyment. Recently I switched to a new role "behind the desk" at Student Services in the Contact Centre. We basically act as a link between different departments. When students have questions, they usually come to us first, and we do our best to provide answers. If we need more expertise, we involve our colleagues.

That sounds interesting! What kind of questions do you usually get at Student Services?

Oh, the questions we get are all over the place. It can range from “Am I officially enrolled?” to "What is the best place to buy a bike?" to "How much tuition do I have to pay?" One memorable question was when someone called during a festival, held on campus, to ask about Frans Bauer's performance. They had seen that he was coming, but the tickets were too expensive for them. So, they tried sneaking behind the tent to catch a glimpse instead.

Haha, that's quite a fun and creative way to see a concert! Speaking of fun, do you have any vacation plans for the summer?

Absolutely! We're heading to France again this year, which will be our 5th time in a row. We've found this lovely spot near Saint Tropez that we can't get enough of. We're planning to go for two weeks in August. When I was a little girl I went there with my parents and since around 20, I've been going there myself. In the future, we really want to revisit Colombia because my husband is from there. We had an amazing three-week trip in 2016, exploring the entire country from the capital to the inland and the coast. It's an experience we'll never forget.
That sounds fantastic! Now, I heard you're quite a music fan. Can you tell me more about that?

Oh yeah, I love making music! I sing, play the piano, and strum the guitar, among other things. I can't say I'm a pro at it, but it's all about having fun. We used to have this awesome group of friends, and we would jam together on Saturday nights. I mostly did the singing part. We played a lot of top 40 hits, basically whatever was popular at the time. And guess what? Recently, I even took a singing lesson here at UT with my colleague Harm from Student Services. That was a lot of fun!

That sounds like a great time! You mentioned having various hobbies. Can you tell me a bit more about them?

I'm someone who easily finds things interesting and gets fully immersed in them, but then quickly moves on. So, I have all sorts of hobbies lying around at home that I no longer pursue. I've played the Kalimba, tried my hand at diamond painting (who didn’t haha), and even taken a few language courses.

That's impressive! So, which languages have you learned?

Besides English, I've learned Spanish, and I'm pretty fluent in it. I also know a bit of French, just enough to get by. Occasionally, I've picked up a little Indonesian, Arabic, Italian, and Vietnamese to chat with colleagues. Basically, whenever a language is spoken within the department, I try to grasp some of the basics or fun words.

That's quite impressive! And I heard you're into drawing and design too. Can you tell me more about that?

That's one of my passions! I love creating drawings and designs. For instance, I've designed my husband's tattoos. His whole arm is covered in my artwork. I've done everything from drawings of his birth name to roses, sheet music, clouds, initials, and even a lion. It was such a fun experience for me.
