New Colleague - Issue no3 | 2024

Dear colleagues,

My name is Robert de Vrught. February 5th, 2024 I joined the Examinations Office in a supporting role for EEMCS and E-assessment. I appreciate the warm welcome my colleagues at the Examinations Office have given me. My experience lies mostly in the hospitality branch. I’ve worked as a chef in many restaurants, had several supervisor or manager jobs, ran a holiday resort and had my own business for seven years. I am always doing something.

So, why am I doing an administrative job? Good question!
I am studying to become a teacher, specifically a teacher within the hospitality branch. Until recently, my schedule consisted of working fulltime as a chef, working at a school as an intern teacher and studying. That caused some issues that led to me looking for a new job. Basically, this is the right job for me at this stage. Since I like to know how things work, working at the Examinations Office is a good fit. In my mind, knowing how intricate the educational system is will benefit me as a teacher. University of Twente will provide me with that experience.

In my free time, I like to learn new skills. Currently, I am learning a new programming language. I like to do things on the computer, like (web)design, gaming, browsing and programming. I also like to cook delicious fresh food and experiment when cooking, i.e. I have made my own vinegar with different flavours. Other things I like to do are playing the guitar, photography and folding balloon figurines.

This is just a small part of who I am and where my interests and hobbies lie. I am always doing or learning something. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. If you want a balloon animal, come see me.

I am looking forward to working with my colleagues at the Examinations Office.
