New colleagues - Issue no 9 | 2024 @ CES Central and SACC

Hi everyone,
I’m Nicole Lyle and I recently started working at the registry here at UT. I live in Enschede, and in my free time, I enjoy travelling with my boyfriend, cooking, hiking, reading, and attending festivals. Originally, I’m from the United States, but I’ve been living in the Netherlands for over 25 years now. After all these years, it truly feels like home. I was looking for something outside the corporate world that I was used to from my previous job, and luckily, I came across the vacancy for the registry. From my first day on June 3rd, I have felt very welcome and comfortable here. I expect that it will only get more positive as I find my way completely.

Ik ben Nicole Lyle en sinds kort werkzaam bij de griffie hier bij UT. Ik woon in Enschede en in mijn vrije tijd hou ik van reizen met mijn vriend, koken, wandelen, lezen en festivals. Oorspronkelijk kom ik uit Amerika, maar ik woon ondertussen al ruim 25 jaar in Nederland. Na zoveel jaar is het echt mijn thuis geworden. Ik was opzoek naar iets buiten het bedrijfsleven dat ik gewend was van mijn vorige baan en stuitte gelukkig op de vacature voor de griffie. Vanaf mijn eerste werkdag op 3 juni voel ik me hier heel erg welkom en comfortabel. Ik ga ervanuit dat het alleen nóg positiever kan worden naarmate ik mijn weg helemáál vind.

Dear colleagues,
Through this channel, I would like to introduce myself to you. I am Laila Tijink-Zinad, born and raised in Enschede. Together with my husband Eric and our two sons Noah and Elias, I live a stone's throw from campus. In my spare time, I do a lot of walking in the greenery with our boomer, Mats. We love to travel far away and discover new cultures. One of my passions is cooking, especially the Moroccan cuisine of my ancestors. An out-of-control hobby are my cooking workshops to groups via www.lailaskookklas.nl I love dancing and (out of tune) singing and do not shy away from any musical genre. I hope to never let go of the child in myself and encourage others to do the same.... Am spiritually and intuitively inclined; I live from my feelings and let my heart guide me. I am always looking for new ways to further develop/discover my talents. This year I am completing a part-time course in the field of communication. 😊 From 1 July, I will take on the role of management assistant for SWIP, Platform on Student Support, Platform on Innovation of Education and Assembly of Examination Committee Chairs. I will be seconded from S&P to CES. Since 2008, I have been working for the University Council and organising the UT elections with my colleagues at the Central Elections Committee. This new challenge at CES marks the end of my work for the University Council. I am sure my knowledge and experience will be useful in my new position. In addition, I continue to work as secretary of the local union representation at UT (The OPUT). Since this spring, I have also been working two days a week as an FNV trade union consultant for UT. This is also a new role that I am gradually fleshing out. I look forward to working with you and contributing to our common goals.

Via deze weg wil ik mij graag aan jullie voorstellen. Ik ben Laila Tijink-Zinad, geboren en getogen in Enschede. Samen met mijn man Eric en onze twee zonen Noah en Elias woon ik op een steenworp afstand van de campus. In mijn vrije tijd wandel ik veel in het groen met onze boomer, Mats. Wij houden ervan om verre reizen te maken en nieuwe culturen te ontdekken. Eén van mijn passies is koken, met name de Marokkaanse keuken van mijn voorouders. Een uit de hand gelopen hobby zijn mijn kookworkshops aan groepen via www.lailaskookklas.nl Ik ben dol op dansen en (vals) zingen en schuw geen enkel muzikaal genre. Ik hoop nooit het kind in mezelf los te laten en spoor anderen aan om dat ook te doen.. Ben spiritueel en intuïtief ingesteld; leef ik vanuit mijn gevoel en laat ik me leiden door mijn hart. Ik zoek altijd naar nieuwe manieren om mijn talenten verder te  ontwikkelen/ontdekken. Dit jaar rond ik een deeltijdopleiding af op het gebied van communicatie. 😊 Vanaf 1 juli neem ik de rol van managementassistent op me voor SWIP, Platform Studiebegeleiding, platform Innovatie van Onderwijs en Vergadering van Voorzitters van Examencommissies. Ik word vanuit S&P gedetacheerd bij CES. Sinds 2008 werk ik voor de Universiteitsraad en organiseer ik de UT-verkiezingen samen met mijn collega's van het stembureau de UT-verkiezingen. Deze nieuwe uitdaging bij CES betekent het einde van mijn werk voor de Universiteitsraad. Ik weet zeker dat mijn kennis en ervaring van pas zullen komen in mijn nieuwe functie. Daarnaast blijf ik als secretaris van de lokale vakbondsvertegenwoordiging op de UT werkzaam (Het OPUT). Sinds dit voorjaar werk ik ook twee dagen per week als FNV vakbondsconsulent voor de UT. Ook een nieuwe rol die ik gaande weg invulling aan het geven ben. Ik kijk ernaar uit om met jullie samen te werken en bij te dragen aan onze gezamenlijke doelen.
