Appointment scheduling has been a popular topic of healthcare OR/OM research for many decades. Our contributions have focused on aspects like 'walk-in versus appointment', 'priority jumping', multi-disciplinary appointment scheduling in oncology, 'how to deal with emergency patients', and the optimization of 'one-stop-shopping' through multi-appointment planning. Many examples of these can be found in the PhD theses of e.g. Aleida Braaksma, Nikky Kortbeek, Maartje Zonderland, and Gréanne Leeftink.
