Working at associations

Arabesque, the Contemporary dance association of the University of Twente is looking for a

MODERN/CONTEMPORARY DANCE TEACHER

Per September 2024, Arabesque is looking for an enthusiastic professional to teach inspiring Contemporary classes to university students for 3 hours per week.

THE ASSOCIATION

Arabesque is a lively contemporary dance association for students at University of Twente situated in Enschede. We offer trainings/lessons for motivated dancers who are looking for creative challenges in the spirit of contemporary dance. The association gives opportunities for developing creativity, physical awareness and performance skills through classes taught by a professional teacher. Our lessons focus on the freedom of dance, and encourage all the students to create pieces. The creative lessons are supported by technical lessons in which the students are taught the tools needed to dance. Every other week the lessons will vary between a technical class and a creative class.

Half way through the year, we take part in a collaborative dance show with other student dance associations in which we perform dances choreographed by the teacher. Additionally, Arabesque organises an annual show where members perform dances that they have learnt from the teacher along with the dances they have created/designed themselves. For that, new dances are created each year. Lessons/training take place on Tuesday evenings in the sports centre of university campus and are taught by a professional teacher. Groups are divided by level of experience. Contemporary dance by nature is an inclusive genre, dancers from all backgrounds and experience are welcome.
