Promising pianists in the spotlight Michail Markov

young and rising

During the past editions of the International Piano Competition for young musicians in Enschede, some young pianists were remarkably talented. Two prize winners will perform this evening and talk about their lives as rising stars. Renowned pianist and teacher Mikhail Markov will give a public master class.

  • Rio Ueyama of Japanese descent, but born in Poland. He started learning to play the piano at the age of 4. He will play music by Chopin and Prokofiev. Watch the video for an impression of this young talent.
  • Alexander Jansen (Netherlands) has just finished high school and is a remarkable talent who will play pieces by Chopin, Debussy and Liszt. When he was barely 3 years old, he first started "conducting at a concert" which he saw on TV. He told my parents "Music is the most beautiful thing in the world and I want to do it!" Surrounded by music and musicians from his birth: his mother is a pianist, his grandfather was a conductor and his uncle is a flutist and saxophonist.
