AS A BACHELOR'S STUDENT FROM A UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES (HBO), YOU NEED TO FOLLOW A PRE-MASTER'S FIRST.
If you have a bachelor’s degree from a university of applied sciences (Dutch ‘HBO’), you do not automatically fulfil all the admission requirements for the double degree Master’s programme Digital Marketing. If your ‘HBO’ diploma is sufficiently related to Business Administration and Communication Science, (see related field information below), we will draw up a personalised pre-master's for you. You can only enter the double degree Master's programme Digital Marketing after you have met the requirements of both pre-master's programmes BA and COM or the specially-developed Pre-Master’s programme Digital Marketing. The purpose of the Pre-Master's is to bring your knowledge up to the required level.
Please
submit two separate applications via Studielink for both MSc Business Administration
and MSc Communication Science. And provide clear and relevant information why you are applying for the double degree Master’s programme Digital Marketing
in your
motivation letter.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for the Pre-Master’s programme followed by the double degree Master’s programme Digital Marketing you have to meet the following conditions:
Completion of an HBO bachelor's in a related field Whether you might be admitted to the Pre-Master's, depends on your previous education. There are several ways to find out if your Bachelor's is sufficiently related.
Below, you can find a selection of HBO bachelor's that are considered admissible for this Master's:
- Business Administration
- Business, IT and Management (Bedrijfskundige Informatica)
- Commercial economy (Marketing)
- Communication
- Communication and Multimedia Design
- Communication Management
- Creative Business: Media, Information and Communication
- Facility Management
- Human Resource Management
- International Business (and Management / Language Studies)
- Industrial Engineering and Management
- Small Business and Retail Management
Another option is:
- Applicants from other bachelor’s degree programmes awarded by a Dutch university of applied sciences who have prior knowledge in Digital Marketing (at least 30ECs) will be considered to be admitted to the Pre-Master’s programme. To be decided by the Admissions Committee of the joint programmes.
A content-related field implies that an applicant possesses sufficient knowledge and skill with regard to the content and domain of Business Administration and Communication Science.
Pre-Higher Education level English You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in English at pre-higher education level. You can demonstrate this by submitting one of the following documents (minimum requirements).
- A HAVO level diploma including English of at least level 6.0
- A VWO level diploma including English of at least level 6.0
- Transcript showing completion of the Saxion English course (no longer offered at Saxion as of academic year 2021-2022)
- Academic IELTS, for specific scores, please see the language requirement website
- TOEFL, internet-based (TOEFL-iBT), please see the language requirement website
- Cambridge CAE-C (CPE), please see the language requirement website
Pre-Higher Education level Mathematics A or B You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Mathematics at pre-higher education level. You can demonstrate this by submitting one of the following documents (minimum requirements):
- A HAVO or VWO level diploma including Mathematics A of B of at least level 6.0
- A separate HAVO level diploma in Mathematics A or B of at least level 6.0
- Refer to CCVX/CCVW diploma
- Refer to Boswell Bèta
- Refer to the NHA (exam must be passed)
- Transcript showing completion of the Saxion Mathematics course for programmes in non-technical subjects (no longer offered at Saxion as of academic year 2021-2022)
- Copy of diploma
- Transcript of records
- Motivational letter, give clear and relevant information on why you are applying for the double degree Master’s programme Digital Marketing (max. 2 pages).
PRE-MASTER’S DIGITAL MARKETING PROGRAMME
As a bachelor's student from a Dutch university of applied sciences (HBO), it is mandatory to follow a pre-master's first to prepare you for this Master's. During your Pre-Master’s you are taught various scientific research skills and your knowledge in mathematics and statistics is raised to an academic level. If you manage to successfully complete this Pre-Master’s within one year, you will be able to enrol for the double degree Master’s programme Digital Marketing.

Study load
The Pre-Master's is a six-month, full-time study programme of 30 EC which you have to complete within one year. You also need to obtain sufficient marks with a maximum of one resit per course permitted. We expect you to take the Pre-Master's seriously. You can't rely on being successful if you approach the Pre-Master's half-heartedly.
You can start the Pre-Master's during your bachelor's as a transfer minor or after obtaining your Bachelor’s degree. The content is the same, but the enrolment method is different.
Costs
You pay a fee per EC and this Pre-Master's is 30 EC. Each academic year, the amount per EC will be reassessed. Visit the tuition page for the current fees.
If you choose to fit your Pre-Master's into your current HBO Bachelor's, you can avoid extra costs; after all, you already pay tuition fees for your current Bachelor's.
