Daan Poppema studied the Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and after that the Master's in Civil Engineering and Management, both at the University of Twente. He specialised in the field of Water Engineering & Management and graduated. Now he is a PhD candidate at the Department of Water Engineering & Management. Currently, he is studying the effect of beach structures such as recreational cottages and pavilions on the development of dunes by wind and sand. He was interviewed about his research by CAMPUS magazine.
