As you may have read in the email of 17 July regarding UT's financial challenges from the Executive Board, several direct measures have been decided upon to yield immediate effect so that UT can remain financially healthy. For Campus and Facility Management (CFM), the decision to reduce the employment of student on-call workers significantly will have substantial consequences. We frequently employ students to staff the Service Desks in buildings outside regular office hours. A significant reduction in this workforce will impact our Service Desk operations drastically. Therefore, two measures unfortunately cannot be avoided: firstly, it will be difficult to keep all Service Desks open, and secondly, the opening hours of buildings will be affected. Given the rapid developments regarding UT’s financial situation and the subsequent budget cuts that we as a service need to implement, we regret to inform you that the Spiegel Service Desk will be permanently closed with effect as of 19 August 2024. In this message we will inform you about what this means and the changes that will occur. Practical changes due to the closure of the Spiegel Service Desk. Please read below a summary of the changes affecting students:
Lecture halls and project rooms
All halls and rooms will remain open and will no longer be locked. Please coordinate internally on how to manage this among yourselves.
Reporting complaints, disruptions or technical problems
If you wish to report a complaint, disruptions, or technical problems, please send an email to servicedesk-spiegel@utwente.nl. Emails will be automatically redirected and handled by another Service Desk employee on campus. Additionally, our Internal Service employee will remain available in the Spiegel building for building-related matters, such as post and internal moves.
The following tasks will be carried out by the Campus Security Service
- Issuing keys for, among other things, the lactation room and to contractors, students, and study associations;
- The collection of lost and found items.
Opening hours
The main entrance of the Spiegel building will remain open on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00.
