Detection of the large-scale brute force attacks on the Internet is challenging, using classic detection mechanisms. Especially when the number of 'connected' devices is increasing dramatically. Candidate Rick Hofstede of the University of Twente (CTIT) looks in a different way to the traffic and picks out the attacks that have real impact. Open source software is already used by various organizations in the world.
Rick Hofstede defended his Ph.D. thesis on June 29th.
Congratulations Rick.
