Title: "Mathematics and Didactics Synthesis" - winning proposal for the BIG
Abstract:
The proposal that recently won the Brinksma Innovation Grant is for a course designed by Tracy Craig. The course aims to "close the gap" between practical mathematics teaching in the classroom and the scholarship of teaching and learning mathematics. In this presentation, Tracy will describe the rationale behind the course, how it will be run and what the practical outcomes will be. Learning outcomes for the student and advantages for the mathematics teaching community will be discussed. The course has been designed, but has not yet been run. As well as informing the department about this proposed course, input will be invited.
