Finger vein recognition
Using Near Infra Red (NIR) light, the veins in fingers can be made visible as dark lines against a brighter background. The vein patterns are different for every individual and hence can be used to identify people. At DMB we have developed various devices to capture these vein images and develop methods to compare vein images. We currently are working on the development of smaller acquisition devices and cross device recognition, i.e. comparing finger vein images recorded on one device with those recorded on another device.
Possible assignments include:
- Development of a stand-alone device with a display and embedded platform
- Development of a stand-alone device with 3 cameras
- Cross device finger vein recognition by image normalisation
- Contact or swipe based finger vein device
