Science Soup: Robot Sound Design

When developing a robotic system, sound design is a vital part of the communication between the robot and the user. There are different ways to communicate with the user apart from natural speech. These verbal sounds are called semantic-free utterances. Khiet Truong and Hideki Garcia Goo will dive into what kinds of non-semantic utterances there are, what they sound like and how they communicate with the user. At the end, Hideki will present part of his research in non-semantic utterances.
