Unleashing 5G: From Evolution to Implementation

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The advent of the fifth-generation mobile network (5G) represents a significant advancement in wireless technology, promising higher data rates, lower latency, and increased connectivity. As 5G continues to reshape the telecommunications landscape, it is imperative to understand its key features, technological advancements, and potential security implications, especially in the context of container orchestration. This research proposal outlines a comprehensive study that aims to implement the 5G core while analyzing the associated security threats in the realm of container orchestration.

Task

The primary objectives of this research study are as follows:

  1. To conduct a comprehensive literature review focusing on the major changes introduced by 5G concerning 4G and their implications for telecommunications and network infrastructure.
  2. To identify and evaluate potential security threats associated with the implementation of the 5G core, particularly in the context of container orchestration.
  3. To develop and implement a functional 5G core system, providing insights into the practical aspects of 5G deployment and its compatibility with container orchestration.

WORK

Literature Review

A thorough literature review will be conducted to examine the major technological changes introduced by 5G compared to its predecessor, 4G. This review will focus on aspects such as network architecture, data transfer rates, latency, and core network. The findings from this review will form the basis for understanding the evolution from 4G to 5G.

Security Threat Analysis

Special attention will be given to understanding the security threats associated with the implementation of the 5G core, particularly within the context of container orchestration.


5G Core Implementation

The research will involve the development and implementation of a functional 5G core system. This implementation will containerize deployment, providing practical insights into the configuration and operation of the 5G core. Emphasis will be placed on ensuring compatibility with container orchestration and addressing any potential challenges.
