Description
The drive for weight reduction poses a challenge to the forming of parts because parts integration and more complex design demand better formability. At the same time the use of stronger steels actually decreases the available formability. Production engineers have at their disposal numerical process simulation tools to facilitate evaluation of design changes and mathematical process optimisation. But if optimisation is to be used to the full, the natural variation of the process and of the employed material, so-called scatter, needs to be taken into account [1].
In a recent project the attempt to robustly optimise a forming process for a forming grade (mild) steel was successful. In this study it will be extended with:
- Constitutive models for AHSS
- Complex statistical distributions
- Process scatter and friction
- Spring back prediction
