The Opening Academic Year of the University of Twente is always a celebration of inspiration and getting together. This time we have once again chosen the Wilmink theatre as our venue for this celebration: a beautiful spot right in the heart of the city, perfectly suited to this purpose.
We warmly invite you to celebrate the start of the new year with us, on Monday 2 September from 15:00 (walk-in 14:00) to 16:15.
This year's theme is ‘Hope’, where we will elaborate on the importance of chip technology. Indeed, the chip sector and hope are closely linked, not least because innovation in this sector is crucial for the societal challenges the world is facing. But also from an economic perspective, chip technology is an important driver of the economy of the future.
We have asked three enthusiastic and inspiring students and scientists to share their stories on stage. And we have a very interesting keynote speaker this year; Jos Benschop, Executive Vice President of Technology at ASML. He is no stranger to Twente because Jos graduated at UT in applied physics in 1984 and also obtained his PhD here. From 2011 to 2021, he held the special chair in Industrial Physics at UT, alongside his role at ASML.
