Beneficial Use of AI for teaching, Learning & assessment
The previous page about AI and assessment mainly addresses the more 'problematic' side of Artificial Intelligence (AI) when reliably assessing knowledge and skills. But how can AI be (made) beneficial for teaching, the learning process of students, and assessment? On this page, we will address these questions.
NB. The developments will continue, and we will try to update this page regularly. Please also share your experiences and examples for the benefit of our UT community!
CELT/TELT activities
A CELT/TELT task group explores the possibilities of the beneficial use of AI for teaching and assessment purposes. Their findings are collected in Resource Hub - AI in education on Canvas. More information about their activities can also be found on the AI In Education | Learning & Teaching Portal website.
Initiatives at other Dutch universities (of applied sciences) and at collaborative organizations for higher education
Just like the UT, other universities (WO) and universities of applied sciences (HBO's) in the Netherlands are looking into the possibilities of the use of AI in education as well. Also, SURF (a collaborative organization for IT in Dutch education and research) has a dedicated site about AI. The National Growth Fund programme (Npuls) for innovative projects in higher education in the Netherlands, addressed this topic and produced a very interesting magazine, edited by and with contributions from UT staff. See some interesting sources below and more international sources under "Further reading and useful sources".
Of course, this is just a sample of a growing range and developments continue rapidly. Please let us know if you know any nice examples of applications of AI (e.g. from your own practice) or useful resources, and we will add them.
