Twente placed second

Solar Team Twente finished second at the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge last night. After a three thousand kilometre race, the team arrived in Adelaide, South Australia, behind the competitors from Leuven. After being allowed to start eleventh at the start on Sunday, the team started a real catch-up race. During the first day of the race, it already overtook eight teams and also during the following days it caught up with the leader from Leuven. Yet in the end, the Dutchmen could not get a grip on the Belgian solar team.

Battle of the Titans between Leuven and Twente

Solar Team Twente and the student team from Leuven are engaged in a real battle of the titans in Australia on the penultimate day of racing in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. Just 25 minutes apart, the top two are far ahead of the rest of the competition. The student team also proved to work together as a close-knit team today. The students formed a human wall to protect their car from the strong gusts of wind.

Giant leaps forward

The third race day of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge went extremely well for Solar Team Twente. The students from the University of Twente and Saxion University of Applied Sciences are closing in on Flemish frontrunner Innoptus Solar Team and significantly increased the gap with the competitors from Delft. Moreover, RED X performed optimally due to very favorable weather conditions for the Tukkers (inhabitants of Twente).

Solar Team Twente overtakes Brunel Solar Team.

Solar Team Twente again had good momentum during the second racing day. Just after the third checkpoint at Tennant Creek, the Tukkers (inhabitants of Twente) already overtook the Brunel Solar Team from Delft. Large forest fires then made it difficult to catch up with the Belgians.

Solar Team Twente starts from 11th place

Saturday morning was finally the day for the students of Solar Team Twente. The team drove the qualification for the World Solar Challenge in sun-drenched Darwin. Driver Bart Mol set a solid 2 minutes and 16 seconds at Hidden Valley Raceway. With that, RED X - the Twente's solar car - secured the eleventh starting position on Sunday. "With the earlier damage in mind we opted for safety today, with over 3,000 kilometres to go you can break the race here, not make it!" says Bart.
