Dutch Power Seminar on Superconductivity on March 11th
Dutch Power is a foundation in which organizations participate that are active in energy in The Netherlands. These concern industries, utilities, government, education and research institutes. The objective of Dutch Power is to facilitate the exchange of information, know-how and expertise within Dutch energy activities. Among others this exchange can stimulate collaboration in research and innovative projects. At the moment, the foundation counts 35 participants, among which recently added the research chair Energy, Materials and Systems (EMS) of the University of Twente.
As one of the ways to realize the exchange and interaction, Dutch Power organizes special seminars and topical meetings. In that respect, Dutch Power organizes an afternoon seminar on Superconductivity that is hosted by EMS. The seminar will be in the conference hotel Drienerburght.
After an introduction on superconductivity presented by prof. Marcel ter Brake, chair holder of EMS, a number of speakers will cover selected topics:
- dr. Juergen Kellers, Zenergy, Germany: “use of superconductors in renewables”.
- dr.ir. Jos van der Burgt, Kema: “fault current limiters”.
- ir. Alex Geschiere, Liandon: “the Amsterdam superconducting cable project”.
- dr. Asger Abrahamsen, Riso, Denmark: “superconductivity in wind turbines”.
The afternoon starts with a welcoming lunch at noon and the presentations start at 13.00. The number of participants to the seminar is limited and registration is possible through the website of Dutch Power (www.dutchpower.net).
