During the period October 2011 - July 2012 the Third International Timetabling competition took place. The competition was devoted to High School Timetabling. Totally 17 teans were registered for the competition. In the first round the participants tried to improve the results of 20 existing benchmarks. For each final improvement a prize was awarded by CTIT. The 74 submissions by 4 teams led to 15 significantly improved solutions.
In round 2 and 3 the teams had to tackle new instances. Prizes were provided by PATAT and EventMAP. These rounds were won by the Brazilian team GOAL, see the picture below.
