University of Twente once again climbs the Times Higher Education ranking ladder

This year, the University of Twente climbed 17 places in the Times Higher Education world rankings, from No. 187 to 170. In 2012, the University was also able to climb, that year by no less than 13 places.

University of Twente's jump in the rankings of the world's best universities has different reasons. Last year, for example, the number of (foreign) students, alumni and promotions saw a rise. The University was also able to generate more research income from businesses and the number of publications per member of staff increased.

Two hunderd best universities

Every year, Times Higher Education publishes a rankings list of the world's two hundred best universities. In this list, the universities' performances regarding, among other things, education, research, and collaboration with the business sector are taken into account. Their level of international orientation as well as the number and quality of scientific publications are measured, too.

The Netherlands strongly represented in the rankings
Traditionally, the Netherlands do very well in the Times Higher Education rankings. Although a couple of Dutch universities have fallen in the rankings, the Netherlands have again obtained places to be proud of: with twelve universities in the list of the world's two hundred best universities, the Netherlands is, after the United States and the United Kingdom, the country that is most represented in the rankings.
