Nardo Borgman wins Menzis MSc thesis prize 2013

Nardo Borgman is the winner of the Menzis MSc thesis prize 2013 for students of the University of Twente. Nardo won this prize for his research on the optimalization of the logistics process in general practitioners’ posts. The award consists of a cash prize of € 2,000 and a year's free insurance.

In his research Nardo showed among other things that the length of stay of patients can be shortened if the emergency department of a hospital and the general practitioners’ post share their staff and other recourses. For instance by treating patients of the emergency in the treatment rooms of the general practitioners.

According to the jury the thesis adds value to patients and is practical. “The research can be used immediately. People will benefit from the success of integrating the general practitioners’ post and the emergency”. His thesis (in Dutch) can found here.

Nardo Borgman receives the MSc thesis prize 2013 from Harry Nienhuis of Menzis. Next to him the other two nominees Suzanne de Jong and Arturo Perez.
