Trees relocated for new CUBE building

On Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 February, four trees near the Horst will be moved to a new location. Until now, the four sycamore trees could be found between the Kleinhorst and the Noordhorst. On that spot the new building CUBE will be constructed, a multifunctional workplace for the ET faculty. To prevent cutting down the trees, they will instead be moved to a new location. Replanting the trees instead of cutting them down is in line with the UT's aim to maintain the biodiversity on the campus.

The lifting plan

Over Kleinhorst

Two of the trees only need to be moved a short distance, but the other two are being moved by crane towards the rear of Carré. Quite an operation, during which the trees will be lifted over the Kleinhorst. The operation is expected to be completed by Wednesday afternoon.
