First session Shaping2030 on Big Data and Digitalization

There is hardly any discussion on the fact that digitization is playing a role in society more and more. There is though, on how it interferes with the work of the university and what it means in the role we want to play for society. Last Friday, the theme Big Data & Digitalization was central to the first inspiration session for Shaping2030, the strategy process of the University of Twente.

More than a hundred employees and students had come to the kick-off of the inspiration sessions for Shaping2030. Sander Klous, professor of Big Data Ecosystems for Business and Society at the UvA and at KPMG responsible for the big data team, presented the key note. This was followed by an animated discussion, with Jos van Hillegersberg (professor of Business Information Systems), Wim Kamerman (University Innovation Fellow) and Willem Jonker (CEO EIT Digital and professor of Database Technology in telematics applications) on stage. Participants from the room were given the opportunity to contribute their views and to ask their questions.

INPUT foR SHAPING2030

The inspiration sessions are part of the Shaping2030 process. This is aimed at delivering a successor to Vision2020 at the end of this year. The discussions are intended to get a clear picture of where the challenges lie at the UT, but also how we should relate to issues such as digitization and big data.

The entire inspiration session has been recorded on video. Anyone who wants to, can watch the registration on the Shaping2030 site. There is also the possibility below the video to give you input and ideas regarding the session and the theme. All comments are collected and bundled so that a writing team can take all this input into account when writing the new strategic document.
