Eye-Tracking Research on Dutch Reading Patterns!

Are you a non-native Dutch speaker? Help us understand how reading behaviour differs between native and non-native Dutch readers!

What is this research about?

We are studying how native and non-native Dutch speakers read texts by analysing their fixation patterns using an eye-tracker. This will help us understand differences in reading behaviour and comprehension between the two groups. Additionally, the study contributes to the multiplEYE project, which collects eye-tracking data across multiple languages. Learn more at https://multipleye.eu/.

What will you do?

You will read five Dutch texts of varying difficulty (e.g., literature, encyclopedic texts). Before each text, the eye tracker will be calibrated. After reading, you will answer comprehension questions.

This is a great opportunity to practice your Dutch reading skills and experience how eye-tracking technology works!

Who can participate?

✅ Non-native Dutch speakers who have spoken a different first language for at least 5-6 years.
✅ Available on April 9th, 10th, or 11th.
✅ The experiment takes place in the Serious Gaming Room, BMS Lab (Building: Langezijds, Room: 1505).

What’s in it for you?

🎁 Participants will receive a €10 voucher as compensation.
