Science Date - Science communication and robots

Imagine a date between two researchers from completely different research fields, what would happen? In this video, researchers Anne Dijkstra and Douwe Dresscher meet, each with their own unique field of research. Is it a match?

Robot avatars should give people the idea that they are physically present in a completely different place while controlling a robot, for example, with virtual reality. But how do you make someone think they are touching something without actually doing so? Dresscher is trying to pull this off using haptic feedback.

On the other side is Dijkstra. She wants to know how scientists and citizens can work together and what they can learn from each other. Co-creation! In this, good communication is crucial. But how do you bring the two worlds together properly?
