IXD Lab connects

Abstract

The Interaction Design Lab (IxD Lab) is a diverse group of creative teachers and researchers dedicated to understanding and improving networks/ecosystems of people and technology. In a context where technological advancements fade the boundaries between hardware and software, device and users, we see it as the role of designers to integrate form, function, and to enrich human experience.

We are part of the Faculty of Engineering Technology and connect to research themes of Personalized Health Technology, Resilience Engineering and Sustainable Production, and Energy and Resources. Through our work we aim to contribute to solving societal challenges in domains such as health, social connectedness, sustainability and education. These challenges are a combination of interdependent complex problems with no single solution. Therefore, we work together with other disciplines and the people we design for and strive for evaluation of solutions in real life. In this way, we learn about the interaction between people and technology they surround themselves with. We focus on ways to design products, services and systems that people can understand and appreciate.

Our interactive poster will highlight current research developments of our work to spark interest and conversation from the TechMed community and strengthen our network for future collaborations. Our work includes, among others, designing for:

• Technology-mediated healing environments to support well-being

• Sensemaking of people's health data and experiences

• Compassionate technology for mental health and wellbeing

• Data visualisation for women's health technology

• The reimagination of digital health with a more-than-human perspective
