Making of: Replicating Willem Kolff’s Artificial Kidney for Jekels Jacht 🔬

Diederik Jekel dives into the world of Willem Kolff, the Dutch doctor who during World War II made the very first artificial kidney from a sewing machine engine, a sausage skin, a pump from an old T-Ford and a piece of a bomber.

Jekel is going to try to make one, too, with help from the PhD students of the AOT research group of S&T. Together they took up the challenge and recreated Willem Kolff's historic kidney dialysis machine.

Tune in to Jekels Jacht on June 5th on NPO2 at 21.13 hrs to witness their remarkable journey!Β πŸ“ΊπŸ‘Β
