Giacomo De Tommasi (B-AT)

Hi! My name is Giacomo De Tommasi, and I am an Italian second-year Advanced Technology student. With the next two paragraphs, I would like to tell you why I want to join the Faculty Council and why I believe I would be a good fit for this role.

In my last year of high school, I served as the Chair of the Student Council for Senior School. My main responsibility was to organize and coordinate meetings with each grade’s representative. However, the part I enjoyed the most was presenting the outcomes of these meetings to the Senior Leadership Team and discussing the next steps. These meetings were where the needs of the students began to transform into reality. This process was significant to me because it ensured that the voices of the students were not only heard, but also acted upon. Two years later, my priorities remain unchanged. This opportunity provides me with the chance to contribute once again to a system where the community's needs become concrete solutions.

My eagerness to join the Council comes from the belief that this position will enable me to provide valuable insights that would lead to the improvement of the overall experience of the students in this faculty. Throughout my life, I have lived for multiple years in four different countries, and these immersive experiences exposed me to various cultures and allowed me to meet a diverse range of people, training me to always look at things from multiple perspectives and thoughtfully consider all viewpoints. On top of that, these years helped me become familiar with the challenges faced by students in different academic contexts. I believe this unique combination of cultural exposure and understanding of the possible challenges in an academic setting makes me particularly well-suited for this role. Furthermore, especially in these times of great instability regarding our international community, it is crucial to have someone in the Council who can effectively represent the wide-ranging wants and needs of all our students.

To conclude, I am confident that I have the experiences and skills required to make a positive contribution to the Faculty Council and, through it, to the entire TNW community.

Vote for me, and I will ensure that your voices are heard and acted upon.
