Prof. Bart Jan Ravoo appointed as unremunerated professor at the University of Twente

The University of Twente has appointed Prof. Bart Jan Ravoo as unremunerated professor of Intelligent Soft Materials at the Department of Molecules & Materials S&T for the duration of 5 years as of September 1

As part of this appointment, Prof. Christian Nijhuis from the University of Twente will hold a visiting professorship at the Organic Chemistry Institute and the Center for Soft Nanoscience (SoN) in Münster. This exchange of expertise is an excellent way to cooperate and further strengthen the relationship with the University of Münster, with a view to future student exchanges and joint project applications.

Bart Jan Ravoo is no stranger to the University of Twente. Following his PhD research at the University of Groningen and postdoctoral research in Dublin, he was appointed assistant professor at the University of Twente's Faculty of Applied Sciences in 2002. In 2007, he accepted a professorship at the Universität Münster. He was dean of the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy for three years and is an international authority on supramolecular chemistry.

Prof. Bart Jan Ravoo

I am very happy and proud of this appointment because I have had a strong bond with the University of Twente literally all my life. Moreover, it is a wonderful way to further expand the collaboration between both universities, for example in the context of our Collaborative Research Center “Intelligent Matter”.

Prof. Bart Jan Ravoo will give guest lectures and help supervise (PhD) students. The faculty board of S&T warmly congratulates Bart Jan on his appointment.
