YAT Summerdrinks 2 July 2024

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual summer drinks event!
It was a memorable afternoon featuring:

Opening by Rector Magnificus Tom Veldkamp:
Tom warmly welcomed our new YAT members and extended heartfelt thanks to our outgoing members transitioning to alumni status.

Education Support Spotlight Award:
One of the highlights was the presentation of the YAT Education Support Spotlight by our esteemed (former) board member Sissi De Beer. As Sissi eloquently stated:

“Last year we introduced this award, because we want to show our appreciation for the people who are not directly teaching, but instead support in making the best out of education at the UT. Even though these people are indispensable for our education, they are not often in the spotlight. This certainly also applies to the technical education support for practicals and projects within various faculties. Our university is known worldwide for its excellent practical and project education and every day our technical support groups ensure that the practical setups work properly and that the students can properly implement their technical ideas.”

This year, we honored the technical education support teams who ensure the smooth operation of practical and projects:

- Student Laboratory Twente (TNW)
- Interaction Lab team (EEMCS)
- Werkplaatsondersteuning (ET)

Thanks and Welcomes:
Hans Hilgenkamp, advisory board member, expressed gratitude to the outgoing board members (Sissi De Beer, Albert Wong & Clara Stegehuis) and secretary (Wiebke Eberhardt) for their dedicated service and welcomed the new board members (Guillaume Lajoinie, Bettina Schwab, Tim Segers, Canan Acar, Caroline Fischer) and secretary (Laurette van der Woning).

Networking and Celebration:
The evening concluded with drinks and informal catch-ups, offering a great opportunity to reconnect and celebrate our community's achievements.

Here's to another year of inspiration and collaboration at the University of Twente!
